IntraTeam DEX benchmark – intranet, collaboration and ESN
With the IntraTeam DEX Benchmark, you can measure to which extent you are exploiting the potential related to the Digital Employee Experience (DEX). The content of this benchmark is limited to the intranet, digital collaboration, and ESN (Enterprise Social Network).
You receive an overall score which is distributed on 22-23 categories and compared with the average and the best in each category.
With at least four other organisations in your industry or similar, your score can be compared to the best in each category in your industry. See the list of participating industries and organizations below.
We offer qualified sparring based on the benchmark results through our partners or in an online meeting. It can e.g., take the form of a follow-up expert assessment.
The graph shows your score compared with the average and the best in your industry.
About the benchmark
IntraTeam have surveyed intranets since 2000 and benchmarked intranets in a wide selection of private and public organizations since 2005.
You can use this research to:
- Make a baseline for your work
- Validate your approach
- Prioritize your resources
- Inform conversations with stakeholders
- Educate staff
- Assess the maturity of your program
- Identify gaps & opportunities in your program
- Build a roadmap
- Justify budget requests
- Get to know your intranet/digital workplace if you’re new to it
The often untapped potential revealed by the benchmark may come as a surprise to the management.
You can also use our benchmark before an upgrade in order to prove the benefits achieved afterwards.
Some organisations benchmark the digital employee experience on a regular basis to continuously improve the intranet, digital collaboration, and ESN.
We only share your results and individual answers with you.
Our model has been used since 2005 to find the winner of the IntraTeamPrize in Denmark. The more than 200 participating organisations count:
Saint Gobain, Irish Defence Forces, Falck, VELUX Group, Arla Foods, Jyske Bank, Danske Bank, Boehringer Ingelheim, University of Copenhagen, Nordea Bank AB, UNICEF PFP, ProSiebenSat.1, Vestas Wind Systems A/S, Tetra Pak, GEA Group, Wacker Chemie AG, Nets, Virgin Trains (West Coast), Grundfos, Nykredit, Silkeborg Kommune, Red Barnet, Haldor Topsøe, Swisscom AG, SE a.m.b.a., PANDORA A/S, BESTSELLER A/S, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, Scottish Government, GSK, Volvo Group, Sarpsborg kommune, City of Malmö…
We recommend that the whole DEX team for the intranet, digital collaboration and ESN get together and answer the benchmark. This process aligns the team’s definitions and thinking about DEX.
But one person can also do it alone. It takes 45-60 minutes to fill in the questionnaire if you know your digital workplace well.
Your results will only be shared if agreed with you

Example of the graph for comparison.
The graph shows where your organisation is placed compared to others in the same industry. In this example, you see that the organisation plans to have a fixed routine for digital content. Just over 50% of the others in the industry already have a fixed routine.

Testimonials
Back in late 2019, The LEGO Group engaged with IntraTeam to run the IntraTeam Self-Assessment Benchmark on our intranet called “LEGO® Web”. We did this initially to create a benchmark on our work and on the state of our effort to create the best intranet for our LEGO® Colleagues.
The journey turned out to be one of great evolvement and self-understanding. We spend a lot of time together in a cross-functional group to get around all the questions and assess our maturity in each area. Just doing this exercise would spark so many discussions and increase our common knowledge and understanding – not just around our current maturity level but also on our overall vision and our next steps.
As the grand final, Kurt did an amazing job of putting all the findings into perspective for us. Together with very precise suggestions on next steps on maturing LEGO® Web in each of the different areas of the Self-Assessment Benchmark and a professional approach towards opening management’s eyes to the importance of the maturity in terms of the value an intranet brings to an organization, this was effort and money well spent.
The LEGO Group winning the Best Internet Prize 2020 was in this game, just the icing on top of the cake.
We found it to be a very useful exercise and made us think about what we should be planning with our digital workplace.
